Boys u17 CUP Gold National Finalists

The CUP Gold u17 boys finished off the 2012-2013 season as finalists in the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Overland Park, Kansas. The boys lost to West Coast FC (CA-S) 1-0 in overtime in the title game.

"What a fantastic run by a great group of young men," said Coach Bobby Puppione. "The end result wasn't what we wanted but I couldn't be prouder of the way these boys represented themselves and the club. The final match could have gone either way and to advance further than any team in club history is quite an accomplishment. These boys are winners and I know they will do amazing things down the road."

The boys advanced to the championship match by winning their flight in pool play. The group consisted of Lehigh Valley (PA-E), Santa Clara Sporting (CA-N), and SC Waukesha (WI).

Along with finishing as National Finalists, two players from the team were also selected to the "Best XI" for the event. The "Best XI" are selected by the coaches as the top 11 players in the age group at the event. Jake Scheper and Josh Grant earned that honor for CUP.

The u17 boys finish the year as the #2 team in the country. They also took home their sixth straight State Cup Title, National League Title, Disney Showcase Championship, Midwest Regional League Title, and Region II Championship.

Congratulations to the boys and DOC/Coach Bobby Puppione on an impressive season.
