Cincinnati United Team Earns Nationals Bid

The CUP U17 Boys Gold team has punched their ticket to the 2013 USYS National Championships in Overland Park, KS in July by finishing in the top two of their division in the USYS National League.  The team, coached by Director of Coaching Bobby Puppione, finished league play with six wins while only dropping one match.  This is the second straight year a CUP boys team has qualified for the National Championships through the National League.

"I couldn't be prouder of the boys and what they have done as a team," said Puppione.  "To have earned a spot in the National Championships by finishing at the top of the table in the toughest league in the country is an unbelievable accomplishment.  We now can look forward to some time off before a tough spring schedule that will aid us in our preparation to compete for a national title in July."

The CUP U18 Boys Gold team also sit top of the table in their National League division after finishing their league season with three wins at the Disney Showcase.  They will have to wait until the rest of the league finishes its season in March to see if they too will earn a spot in the USYS National Championships.  The team is coached by Terry Nicholl.

Both teams also won Disney Showcase Championships to finish out 2012.

CUP also had the U15 Boys Gold team and U16 Boys Gold team competing in the National League along with the CUP U18 Girls Gold team.  As a whole, the club had more teams competing in the National League than any other club in the country.
