Teams Enjoy Spring Success
The
Boys U-17 CU Lakota - Redhawks, coached by Joel Carey, took the
Championship at the Adidas Warrior Classic, winning their division,
going undefeated in the tournament, and winning in the finals 3-1. It
was an outstanding weekend as the Redhawks scored 16 goals and only
allowed 2 against them in 5 games in 48 hours. In the process, they
defeated one of the top teams in Michigan. This tournament gave great
exposure for the Players to College Coaches, as several of the players
were approached by College Coaches and had the opportunity to talk with
them. The Adidas Warrior Classic is one of the most respected
tournaments in Ohio with top teams always competing. A special thanks
to Terry Nicholl and Tino Mam.
The Boys U-8 CU Sycamore-Mason - Chelsea team finished off their
first year with the club by taking home top honors in the gold division
of the Adidas Warrior Classic. After winning their group, Chelsea
knocked off the CU-Lakota Vipers 2-0 to advance to the finals on
Monday. In the final, Chelsea got on top and never looked back as they
won the final 6-1 over Metro FC. Congrats to Coach Buck and the boys.
The
Girls U-9 CU Sycamore-Mason Tornadoes were division champions
after a hard fought 1-0 win in the finals of the Queen City Tournament
that took place over Memorial Day Weekend. From left, top row: Kyra

The Boys
U-12 CU Sycamore-Mason - Vipers team finished their spring
season with CU as finalists of the Seth Stevens Tournament hosted by
Kolping this past weekend. This spring, the team also finished as
champions of their CUSL division. The team is coached by Cindy Feltman
and trained by CU Sycamore-Mason DOC Bobby Puppione.
The Girls
U-12 CU Sycamore-Mason - USA team were finalists in the Ohio
South President's CUP. The girls gave up no goals getting to the
finals, but lost 4-0 to Lady Magic out of Grove City in the championship
game. The team had a great time and lots of fun! From left to right

The Girls
U-12 CU Sycamore-Mason - Atlantis team was the runner up at
the Cincinnati West SoccerFest tournament May 2010. This team also were
division leaders in their CUSL division. They finished the league
season as an undefeated team: 7 wins, no ties, no losses.
The Girls U-10 CU Sycamore-Mason - Copa team have had a good season and the team has been working hard so they were surprised by their coaches and parents with a PINK HUMMER Limo ride. Very cool!
The Boys U-9 CU Sycamore-Mason - Storm
team picked up their first tournament championship of the spring 2010
season by winning the Cincinnati West SoccerFest this past weekend.
Storm advanced to the finals after picking up preliminary wins over Star
Black and CU-Sycamore-Mason Eagles. In the finals, the boys battled
tough with the host club, Cincinnati West, before ending up on top by a
score of 4-3. The team is coached by Tim Gainer and trained by Tim
Brown.
The Girls U-12 CU Lakota - Thunder had a wonderful Tournament the weekend of April 24-25th playing in the Derby Cup in Louisville, Kentucky. The girls played five games that weekend in pouring down rain, though the weather did not stop them from reaching the Finals. They started off Saturday with two wins (10-0 and 1-0) over AC United and Owensboro, then Sunday morning lost 3-1 to Thoroughbreds SC. This qualified them for the Semis and a rematch with Thoroughbreds SC, which Thunder won 5-1. They eventually lost in a hard fought final 1-0 to an undefeated Netsurfers team. The team is coached by Ray Miller and Phil Hamilton, trained by Lauren Carstens.

The Girls U-9 CU Lakota - Lightning were Finalists at the Middletown Spring Blast and the Cincinnati West Soccer Fest.
The Boys
U-15 CU Sycamore-Mason - Legends won their Division in Serie B
going 2-0-1. They advanced to play the Host team, Blast FC, in the
Finals. The Blast came out confident in the first half and had control
the first few minutes but the Legends responded by outworking the Blast
in the Midfield. Their efforts were rewarded when Alex Hall put one in
over the keepers head to go up 1-0. The Blast tied it up late in the 1st
half with an absolute blast from about 25 yards out just barely beating
the Legends Goalie who had a fantastic Tournament making some great
saves. The second half saw the legends play great defense to win balls
and start some quick counter attacks with accurate passing from the
back. Staying patient in the offensive 3rd really paid off for the
legends when Austin Koenig put one past the Blast Keeper, assisted by
David Piotrowski, after a couple near misses and went up 2-1. The team
was able to hold out the last 10 minutes and win their first tournament
as the CU Legends. Legends are coached by Rob Beglin and Rusty Sapper.

U-8 CU Sycamore-Mason - Chelsea team picked up their first
tournament title of the Spring 2010 season by defeating the CU
Lakota - Vipers 6-2 in the finals of the MASC Tournament.
After winning their group with a 2-1 record, the boys faced off against
the Vipers in the finals. Chelsea and the Vipers have met 2 previous
times in tournament finals. After being down 2-1 at half, the boys
bounced back in the second to pick up the win. A great game by both CU
teams. The team is trained and coached by Garrett Buck.

U-9 CU Sycamore-Mason - AC Milan team also took home hardware
this weekend as they were runner-ups in the u9 gold division of the MASC
tournament. After winning their group with a 2-1 record, the boys
matched up with a very strong Elite FC team. In the final, AC Milan
battled tough but was unable to pull out the win as they lost 3-1. The
team is trained and coached by Tim Brown.

U-12 CU Sycamore-Mason - Feltman team was flawless this past
weekend at the MASC tournament, winning the U12 Bronze Division in
exciting fashion. The boys posted three straight shutouts in group
play, winning their bracket to advance to the finals against FOSC.
After being tied through regulation and overtime, CU took the the title
in penalty kicks. The team is coached by Cindy Feltman and trained by
Bobby Puppione.

U-13 CU Sycamore-Mason - Slam team lost a heartbreaker in
penalty kicks this weekend, but still finished as runner-ups at the MASC
tournament. Slam won its three games in group play to advance to the
finals of the U13 Boys Silver division. In the finals they played CU
Lakota - Dynamite to a tie through regulation and overtime.
In penalty kicks, Dynamite beat out Slam to take home the title. A great
game by both CU teams. The team is coached by Tony Mazzone and trained
by Tim Brown.
The Girls
U-13 CU Lakota - Gunners opened up the spring 2010 season with
a championship in the KSA Adidas Turf Classic Black division. The team
was unbeaten with a 4-0 record with 9 goals scored and only 1 allowed.
They won the final 1-0 against Carmel United on a pressure-packed
penalty kick by Maria Baglier. Players included Marin Filipowski,
Maria, Jess and Alex Steigerwald, Ashley Bremar, Emily Halmi, Megan
Niehaus, Jenna Riehle, Sierrah and Shelbey Straub, Ali Marshall, Megan
Quinn, Liz Eadie, Lindsay Snook, Katie Blaylock, McKenzie Chappell, and
Katrina Brickley. The team is trained by Molly Finnerty and coached by
Ron Brickley and assistants Chris Marshall and Mike Riehle.
The Girls U-8 CU Lakota - Tornadoes were
champions at the Ohio Elite Spring Classic. Players include Samantha
Dodd, Anna Huston, Joelle Parrish, Haley Enslein, Madison Snowden, Julia
Simer, Lexi Doherty, Ashley Evans, Megan Grill
The Girls U-15 CU Sycamore-Mason - Huss
team won the MASC tournament Copper Division winning all 4 of their
games and defeating Classics Hammer 4-2 in the Tournament final. This
was quite an accomplishment considering the team had only 12 players
available to play due to injury and illness. Team members are: Sarah
Bailey, Anna Bailes, Tori Bere, Lauren Foster, Amanda Freel, Ashley
Hennings, Megan Huss, Kelsie Larkin, Sydney Larkin, Marissa Lind,
Madison Nelis, Bianca Rhodenbaugh, Aliya Siddiqi, Samantha Siler and
Clarisse Wean. Coaches: Scott Huss and Lauren Giesting.
The Girls
U-11 CU Sycamore-Mason - Fury team finished as finalists last
weekend in the Middletown Spring Blast. In group play, the girls
defeated the Hurricanes 5-0 and CUSA Courage 98G White to advance them
to the finals. In the championship match, the girls lost a hard fought
game to Middletown WFC Lightning. The team is coached by Jason Rudesill
and trained by Chris Jones.
The Boys
U-10 CU Lakota - Fury team captured their first tournament
title of the Spring Season as they finished champion in the red division
of the Middletown Spring Blast Tournament. The Fury defeated the
Warrior 99’ White team in the championship game after two ten minute
overtime periods and a six man penalty shootout. Players include Brady
Keating, Ilias Boujlil, Griffin Heintzman, Brady Griffis, Brady Howell,
Josh Besl, Jak Birdsong and Cameron Gall. They are coached by Rick
Griffis & Rob Howell.
The Boys
U-14 CU Lakota - Wolverines won the Championship in the 'Gold'
division at the Middletown Blast Tournament. They faced Buckeye and
CUSL Division 1 teams and went 4-0-0 giving up only 1 natural goal in
the 4 games. The core of the team has been together for 5 years and
have worked up from recreational soccer, then from CUSL Division 4 by
winning each division en-route to their current place in Division 1.
Players include Robert Rainer, Levi Combs, Jeffrey Fiorenza, Austin
Robillard, Derek Jones, Trevor Slack, Daniel Silvashy, Dylan Castner,
Francis Puglielli, Justin Quinlisk, Tanner Fanta, Joe Clear, Dan Meyer,
Chris Hudson, Josh Costello, Ike Cloutier. The team is coached by David
Slack and assistants Paul Puglielli, Tony Costello, and Tony Jones.
The Girls U-14 CU Sycamore-Mason - Australia team
picked up some hardware in the Middletown Spring Blast. The girls
defeated BSC White Bearcats 3-0, Granville Lady Aces 3-0, and tied PATS
Pumas 1-1 to win their group and move on to the championship game. In
the final, Australia lost a tough match to the Stingers 5-1. The team
is coached and trained by Amy Harris. |

U-16 CU Sycamore-Mason team captured their first tournament
title of the season for the Club as they finished as Champions of the
KSA Adidas Turf Classic. Through four games, the team only gave up one
goal. Congrats boys on a great start to the season!
The Boys U-10
CU Sycamore-Mason - Black Knights got their spring 2010 season
off to a good start by finishing as runner-ups in the KSA Adidas Boys
Turf Classic. The Black Knights won their group by winning their first
two games and tying their third game to make the final. Despite some
quality play in the final, the Black Knights were defeated 3-2 by
Thunder United. The team is coached by Jason Hipskind and trained by CU
Sycamore-Mason DOC Bobby Puppione. Great job boys! |

The Boys U-9 CU Sycamore - Eagles team was a finalist in the Cincinnati West Goooalrilla Classic this past weekend. The boys defeated the FOSC Firehawks 6-1, Metro FC 7-1, and PC Sting 3-1 to win their group. In the final, the boys were downed by Cincinnati West 3-1. For the weekend, the Eagles scored 17 goals while only giving up 6. Team players include Grant Saw, Jason Berry, Hadi Akbik, Ryan Burig, Evan Sichel , Sam Miles, Armeen Kazemi, Sam Bishton, and Taku Yoshigai. Congratulations to the Girls U-14 CU Monroe - Cyclones for winning the Mockingbird Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky. The girls had a fantastic weekend and really came together as a team. They outscored their opponents 8 to 1. Head coach Barry Randolph stated "It is a an honor to be associated with such fine young athletes and to work with great trainers like Tim and Carla. We also want thank the parents for all they do and the time and money they spend get the girls where they need to be." The Girls U-10 CU Lakota - Hornets were Finalists at the Fall Ball Soccer Classic the weekend of Sept. 26-27.
The Girls U-11 CU Lakota - Bengals were victorious in the championship game of the U-11 Girls Red Division in the Fall Ball Soccer Classic with a 2-1 score in OT.

CU Teams at the Midfest Soccer Classic:
The Girls U-12 CU Sycamore - Atlantis team finished as runner-ups in their division of the Midfest Soccer Classic. The girls defeated Lady Trojans 97 Black (7-0), Findlay Red (6-1), and tied Butler United Ladies (2-2) before falling in the finals. Players include: Anu Roy-Chaudhury, Megan Sneider, Paige Henry, Hope Bundy, Katie Jamison, Pamela Shoemaker, Corinne Gause, Orion Schlosser, Zoe Schlosser, Haya Akbik, and Gwen Constand. The team is lead by Coach Akbik, Coach Bruce Henry, and trained by Chris Hopkins.
The Boys U-12 CU Sycamore - Feltman team had a successful weekend at the Midfest Soccer Classic in Middletown. The boys won their group by defeating the Toledo Celtic 2nd team (5-4) and PC Sting (1-0) while tying Extreme Soccer (3-3). In the finals, the boys matched up with the Toledo Celtics top team. Despite a strong effort, the CU-Sycamore U12 boys fell short, but still finished the tournament as runner-ups in the u12 red division. Team members include Max Weiss, Charlie Supp, Patrick Scott, Miles Menyhert, Bennett Smith, Nick Bashford, Martin Gonzalez, Ryan Minnich, Ryan Strotman, Nicholas Feltman, Andrew Cardenas and Brian Johnston. The team is coached by Tyler Scott and Cindy Feltman, and trained by CU Sycamore DOC Bobby Puppione.
The Girls U-8 CU Lakota - Lightning were Finalists at the Midfest Soccer Classic in Middletown on September 26th and 27th. They lost the championship game 2-1. CU Teams at the Mead CUSA Cup:
Cincinnati United continues to show great success at high-level events.
Eight teams advanced out of group play at the Mead Cup which is widely
recognized as one of the Elite tournaments in the Midwest in the fall
season.
- Boys U-9 CU Lightning had a great going 3-1-0 in group play in the boys U9 Silver 6v6 division
- Boys U-10 CU Sycamore Wasik boys went 3-0-0 in group play winning
their semi 5-3 before losing in an exciting final 4-5.
- Boys U-11 CU Lakota Vipers put in a great performance going 2-0-1 in group play.
- Girls U-9
CU Sycamore Lightning followed their first place finish at the CU Cup
with a heart breaking loss in PK’s in the finals of the Five Star
Division. It was an enjoyable game to watch full of great skill.
Equally as impressive was their win over St. Louis Scott Gallagher's
top U-9 team, 3-0 in group play. The girls outscored their opponents
14-3 in group play.
- Girls U-9 CU Lakota Lightning went 3-1 in the Five Star division beating Carmel, OP Eagles Green and CUSA Courage.
- Girls U10 CU Lakota Hornets went 2-1-1 in the Gold division, beating
the Blast, CUSA, and drawing with the TNFC (Tennessee) Impact.
- Girls U-14 CU Fury went 2-1 in the Silver Division.
The Girls U-9 CU Sycamore - Lightning were finalists in the Five Star division of the Mead Cup over Labor Day weekend. They had a great run and played with a ton of heart all weekend. Lightning started the weekend slow with a 1-0 loss only in score to Michigan Jaguars. The girls out shot the Jaguars something like 30-3, but were just unable to put the ball in the net -- hitting the post 3 times and the crossbar once. The CU Sycamore girls fixed their scoring problems in the next 3 games outscoring their next 3 opponents 14-3 (Kings, Beavercreek and SLSG). Lightning beat St. Louis Scott Gallagher's top U9 team 3-0. SLSG's coach commented after the game that they hadn't yet played anyone better than them in the last year and a half until today. On Monday, the finals came down to a Cincinnati battle between CU Sycamore Lightning and FOSC Red Rage. With FOSC up 2-0 at half time, the Lightning girls fought their way back 2nd half to take a 4-2 lead. The 2nd half ended in a 4-4 tie however, resulting in 2 overtimes and then the Lightning girls finally succumbing to FOSC in a pk shootout. Congratulations to the CU Sycamore Lightning U9 girls with an impressive start to their season....champions in the of CU Cup and then finalists at Mead Cup! The Boys U-12 CU Lakota - Jaguars Premier team dominated the Dublin Charity Cup soccer tournament. The Jags outscored their opponents 17 to 3 over the 4 tournament matches. The Girls U-10 CU Sycamore - Samba team won their division of the Thunder United Classic this past weekend. The girls beat WASA Attack 4-0, KSA Elite Edwards 8-2, and TUMFC White 8-0. In the final, Samba defeated TUMFC Green 6-0. Players include Isabella Buckeridge, Claudia Como, Bre Herzner, Abbie Hughes, Morgan Jackson, Kate Juliani, Hannah Klopfenstein, Ashlin McGill, Abbey Woodcock, and Lauren Ritter. The team is coached and trained by Adam Dobrozsi.
The Girls U-9 CU Sycamore - Ice team picked up their first trophy of the fall season as they won their division of the Thunder United Classic. In group play, the girls beat FOSC 12-0, Thunder United 11-1, and CU-Lakota Lightning 7-0. In the finals, Ice defeated the SCSA Pythons by a score of 5-2 to take home top honors. For the entire tournament, Ice scored 35 goals while only giving up 3. Players include Megan Oduyoye, Olivia Green, Sophia Le, Annie Hugenberg, Gabrielle Marcum, Anna Scott, Maddie Thiss, Sydney Tepe, Jenna Foy, and Taylor Miller. The team is coached by Helene Thiss, Shelley Foy, and Fred Oduyoye.

CU Teams at the Cincinnati United Cup:
The Boys U-8 CU Sycamore - Chelsea team started off their first competitive year on the right foot, winning the U8 gold division of the Cincinnati United Cup. The team beat Warren County Blue 7-1, CU Newcastle 8-2, CU-Lakota Vipers 6-1 to win their group. In the final, Chelsea defeated the Vipers again 3-0 to lift the cup. Players include Connor Andrews, Ben Damge, Elliot Como, Buddy Hollmeyer, Luke Lundberg, Joey Plofchan, Kamal Sylvester, Kevin Thibodeaux, and AJ Washienko. The team is coached and trained by Garrett Buck.
The Girls U-9 CU Sycamore - Sting were champions of the Cincinnati United Cup U9 Girls Silver division.

The Girls U-11 CU Lakota - Tigers finish as Finalists in the Cincy United Cup.
The Girls U-9 CU Sycamore - Lightning team won all 4 games in the Cincinnati United Cup. They played two very hard fought games against Beavercreek and our CU Lakota Stingers to bring home the championship trophy.
